When I schedule my flights, I try to arrange them so that I’m taking photos near sunrise or sunset. The colors are more saturated, and the shadows of even the smallest features become elongated. For this week’s challenge of shadow, I immediately thought of being up in the skies looking down, and my photo comes from somewhere northwest of Las Vegas.

Thanks, Allan. I feel much safer from an airplane than from your perspective on this challenge! 😨

So true, and I’m sure you were well anchored with safeties.

Two hand cables run the length of each Main Cable and I had 2 lanyards on my PPE harness, each one attached to a different hand cable.

How can you manage to take such good photo through plane’s window? Mine are always dirty ;( …

I usually fly Southwest Airlines, and they tend to have some newer planes. I’ve even been on a couple planes that felt like they were out for the first time. Then I usually take that seat that no one else wants – the one at the front without a tray to place things on.
Even with the best windows, there’s going to be some haze. Photoshop can fix that, but only to some degree. You can’t bring back the color if it’s not there because of atmospheric conditions. What I really hate is when I get a window that looks good at first, only to find there are soft spots in it. There’s no fixing those!

What a fascinating photo! I don’t fly a lot, but when I do, I always fly SWA, unless they don’t go where I want to go. On my last trip, I had a brand new plane and it was delightful!

Low fares and new planes. My favorite combo! It’s wonderful when you have great sights below and can actually see them. Thanks, Janet 😀
