Well, the obvious answer is Earth, but several locations I’ve flown across bear resemblances to sci-fi movie settings. These are all desert locations, so it probably helps that I fly in and out of Las Vegas. This also means we’re still at an altitude low enough to see great detail.

These are amazing, Steve – some look so otherworldly. I particularly like the last three.

Thank you, Eliza! I don’t think I could pick a favorite out of the bunch – I had optimum lighting for all of these. I’ve flown over the Craters near Flagstaff several times, but this was the only time in very low light, which really allowed the shapes to come through.

They are all so unique… I have never seen any other pictures like these.. I do like the picture depicting the mountains near Lake Mead at Sunset for that orange glow gives the picture the feel of “life” on Gaia earth… ❤

That with which we are so familiar on eye level can take on a bizarre feeling when seen from the air. The Mountains near Lake Mead at Sunset had perfect timing with the sun just at the horizon and was part of one of the best photo-flights ever. Thank You 🙂

Thank you, Awa! I try to schedule my flights for early in the morning or late in the day for photography purposes. This usually means there is a right and wrong side of the plane to be on, so seating matters.

You are right. I usually travel by cheap flights, so no possibility to choose the best side (unless I pay additionally for it).
