Sounds like it’s time to get out the macro lens for this week’s Daily Post Challenge of Tiny.
A couple weeks ago I was on a hike when I came across a spot where small pools of water remained in the canyon bottom. It had rained two nights before, and as the water flowed through, it congregated the tiny pine needles at the edge of the waterline (above).

Thank you! If I hadn’t already been stopped, I never would have noticed it. Some rustling in the pine needles got my attention, and I had to find the source.

Great series, Steve – my favorites are the bark and lizard. 🙂

Thank you, Eliza! Considering how quick the lizard was, I was amazed how well he posed for me. 🙂

Surprising that you saw him, given how well he was camouflaged. Good eye!

Mostly I heard him, which made me look for him. Otherwise, not a chance of spotting this little guy!

All great photos, but the last photo with the close up of the bark is my favourite! Haven’t thought of bark being that beautiful:)

Thank you, Inger! I’ve come across many types of trees with wonderful details in the bark.

All the beauty is in the detail…All beautiful, including the spider that I almost missed; until my second look and that worm looking plant material. I thought they were worms at first….The horned lizard is super cool…

Tiny details take on a world of their own. I think that’s a mosquito, and I never knew it was there until I saw this image on my computer screen. And from that angle those pine needles do resemble worms, which is what intrigued me to press the shutter. Thank you!
