For this week’s Daily Post Challenge, I’ve found a few shots where the emphasis came from the curve in the photo. The top shot comes from Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.
Rainbows made me think of curves, whether in the skies over southern Arizona, or frozen in sandstone at Rainbow Bridge National Monument, Utah.
Curves in the road also came to mind, and this one has plenty. It’s called the Swift Trail, and it heads up the Pinaleno Mountains of Arizona. As you can tell, there’s nothing swift about this drive, but it can be a lot of fun, and takes you into a beautiful mountain range.
Also in Arizona, you will come across many of these Saguaro cacti. Although the younger ones are a single column, the older ones develop arms that often curve gracefully.

It is hard to pick which one is my favorite of the curved bunch… Anything to do with soft rounded angles I prefer. Yet, if I had to pick, i would choose the outstanding double rainbow with the clouds and beautiful background. I enjoy all the various elements in one… ❤

I like that you have a hard time choosing a favorite, yet that rainbow shot does have many elements working in its favor. Thank you!

Fabulous. Especially the sand dune and cactus. Very other-worldly to a New Englander.

Thank you, Brenda. The desert can be a strange place for visitors. My most other-worldly shots are in my previous post.

Excellent collection of photos. Arizona has so many opportunities for photographers, the colour and shapes are perfect… my fav is the sand dunes…

Thank you, Maggie. There are many great opportunities throughout the desert southwest, and Arizona certainly has its share. I’m glad you enjoyed these!

Thank you, K! I know sometimes I’ve gotten rainbows when they are partial, or more upright, but this one had the right amount of curve.

I hope one day I can come and see these dunes by myself. I have never yet been to any desert. Only saw them on films 😉

I hope you get to see these magnificent dunes for yourself. These are in a bit of a strange place – at 8000′ elevation in Colorado with mountains up to 14,000′ as a backdrop. There are many places in the lower deserts of the southwest US that are also beautiful.

Yes, I admire American nature very much. When I visited my sister there last year, the lanscapes were the main spots I wished to see. I managed however only a few places. The time was limited – 3,5 weeks.
