In response to Jennifer Nichole Wells One Word Photo Challenge
The desert southwest receives abundant sunshine, which is not appreciated by most landscape photographers. Clouds make the difference in transforming a sterile looking landscape into one full of life. Whether it’s subtle wisps just filtering out the harshness, or full blown thunderstorms as dramatic elements, the timing and placement of clouds can make or break the shot. The featured image, above, was taken at the Gila River, west of Phoenix, Arizona. The photos below are from Red Rock Canyon, Nevada.
